Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner in Tamarindo

00104_conversion.png

Throughout the years Tamarindo has grown to be known for its beautiful beach, world-class surf, friendly people, beautiful Condos, Homes & Hotels, and generally a fun place to live, or visit. And when describing the multiple amenities Tamarindo has to offer such as; shops, markets, banks, high speed internet, gyms, spas, tours, etc., you can’t leave out all the great places to eat there are here. I’ve always wondered how many options there really are, so I went out to see and counted them. From the entrance to Tamarindo, near the Church, all the way to Langosta I found that, including small “Sodas”, hotels with restaurants and standalone restaurants there are just over 106 establishments to pick from and among these there are 16 that are beachfront. You’ll find from local Costa Rican food to burger & taco joints, French, Italian, Oriental, Indian, Chinese, BBQ, cafe’s, seafood, pizzas, falafels, sushi, vegan friendly, steak houses and international menus, making it a wide multi-cultural selection of food to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a delicious ceviche with a cool beer, fine cuisine or something in-between, it’s really amazing how diverse the selection is.

So, while you’re relishing in everything Tamarindo has to offer rest assured that a scrumptious meal, and of course a cocktail or two, is close by. Maybe the next time you go out to eat try something new, there are plenty of options to choose from.

How much – Cuanto cuesta?

Prices of properties depends a lot on the whereabouts. There are these famous three words in real estate that most of you have heard about before: Location, location, location! The most common three sought after locations in Tamarindo are beachfront, ocean view and walking distance to the beach. There is a wide price range between those different type of properties. Many times, people ask “how much is the price for land in Tamarindo”? Currently the prices range from about US$100 to US$1000 per m².

Less than 5% of land in Costa Rica on the beach is titled, “con escritura”, or fee simple. Tamarindo is one of the unique beach towns that were developed early and before the law changed in the 70’s to concession land. Because of that, most of the land on the beach in Tamarindo is titled.

Beachfront was always and still is the most desired land. Therefore, it is the most valuable. Currently you will not find a beachfront property below US$1000 per m². In fact, you have to be lucky to find any available ones for sale right now. Small lots in prime commercial areas can easily double that number.

Other sought-after properties are the ones with ocean view. Prices for these start around US$170 per m². Depending on the view, usable space, infrastructure and location, prices can go up to US$500 per m², or even higher if those properties are in a gated community.

The third interesting property group to look out for are the ones within walking distance to the beach. Currently there are no properties available below US$100 per m² within this category. If you should find one, we recommend you to buy it. A general rule is that closer to the beach you get, the higher the prices are. The history in sales for over more than 20 years confirms that lots closer to the beach sold for about half the price than the beachfront lots.

We are glad to help you find the best property to purchase, or give a free estimate if you are interested in selling yours.

Progress Report

daniel-oduber-airport

When you live permanently in a location, you tend to obviate the changes in your environment. However, looking in detail into the last few months, several good things have been going on in Tamarindo and its surrounding areas.

Just a few days ago, a very natural incident took place. Last Wednesday April 10th, we had the first rainfall of the year. This is typical of the dry/rainy season transition that might happen as early as late March or as late as May in a regular year. This is good as vegetation turns green again, reducing the possibility of wildfires. We celebrate this and hope for a stable rainy season that will allow aquifers to recover from the dry season.

Langosta Tamarindo road work.jpg

Right here at the beach, a life guard tower was finished the past month of March in front of El Vaquero restaurant and bar. This tower with an optimal design and construction to serve this part of Tamarindo beach, was possible with the participation of ADI Tamarindo and fully financed by the Municipality of Santa Cruz. The beach will now be a safer place for swimmers, surfers and visitors in general thanks to the presence of this new element.

Parque Oneida is currently being fully remodeled. This is another initiative impulse by ADI Tamarindo and executed by the Municipality of Santa Cruz. The local government has been doing work of permanent infrastructure in other coastal areas, like sidewalks, curbs and road paving in coastal town centers like Brasilito, Matapalo and Huacas. Drainage to handle upcoming heavy rainfall has also been a priority in different areas within this dry season. The project that impacts Tamarindo directly right now is the storm drainage and pavement of the road that connects Tamarindo with Playa Langosta. With wide sidewalks, this will definitely improve the experience tourists have while visiting the area.

dav

Another major project that will impact Tamarindo is the new coastal aqueduct that started construction in November 2017. This one is about to be finished and will assure a reliable flow of potable water for several communities in our area. It brings water from a very good aquifer located inland, protecting wells that are closer to the ocean that have been exploited for years to rest.

The Liberia International Airport is also a source of good news for the area. This terminal, finished in 2012, served 166,240.00 passengers las March, being this the busiest month since its opening. Flights from the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe with an average of thirty per day and eighteen airlines coming here are being served. In 2018 1,125,170.00 passengers used this terminal and 2019 will definitely exceed that traffic. As a matter of fact, KLM just announced a flight between Amsterdam and Liberia starting October 29, 2019. More and more tourists from varied countries now have the alternative to visit Costa Rica and arrive directly to the province of Guanacaste.

Things are going well, very well.
